picoTime User's Guide

To install picoTime, simply drag the picoTime.exe file from the zipfile to whereever you wish to install it. It requires no other installation. When picoTime is run for the first time, the following window will be displayed:

This window can also be brought up again at anytime by selecting "Config" from the system tray menu (see next image below). From here, the location of the logfile being used to record the tasks being worked on can be changed, along with the name of the 4 "preset tasks" that will always be present on picoTime's system tray menu.

Most of picoTime's features can be accessed by right clicking on its system tray icon:

To note a break being taken, simply click on the appopriate break type. One of the 4 preset tasks can also be selected from here (and changed via the "Config" menu). If "Set Task ..." is selected from the menu (which is also accessable by double-clicking on picoTime's system tray icon), the following prompt is displayed, where the name of the current task can be entered:

If a break is selected, a popup dialog will appear - do not click "OK" until after returning from the break, so that the duration of the break can be accurately recorded. One right-click menu item is preserved to remember the last manually set task was (shown on the illustration of the right-click menu as "Entered Work").

The following is an example logfile:
03/04/2005/1600: Entered work
03/04/2005/1601: Preset A
03/04/2005/1606: BREAK(toilet) - START
03/04/2005/1607: BREAK(toilet) - END
03/04/2005/1756: BREAK(drink) - START
03/04/2005/1759: BREAK(drink) - END
03/04/2005/1800: Left work

Note that a logfile entry "Entered work" is added to the logfile when picoTime starts up, and an entry "Left work" is added prior to quitting. This is designed to assist with start / finish work logging.
